Spring 2016

I've really slacked off on this blog, but I thought it was time to catch up on here an add some pictures from the last several months. Back last spring we hiked the "Y" while Rusty was home for spring break. We have two backpack carriers so we each carried up one of our girls. The trail is really steep. While we were going up Claire said, "I'm really tired." We had no sympathy for her since she was riding in a backpack. I was quite winded while we were hiking. It was really cold when we got to the Y since it was still shady.
I found Lily one night with all of her kitties around her face.

Lily and Claire watching the garbage man.
After we read books Claire and Lily sometimes like to lay in bed together before nap time while we sing a song. When they get along it's actually quite cute.
Claire and Lily both like to play beauty parlor. For a little while Claire pretended that her baton was used to cut hair.
Lily went on a streak where she would take the dish towels off the stove handle and run around with them. Often times she would put the towel on her head and walk around the kitchen.
On April 23rd my Grandpa Hurst died. It happened kind of suddenly, but he had been sick with dementia and Parkinson's for a long time. There was a really nice funeral service, and he was buried in the Bountiful cemetery.

Almost all of the Hurst side after the funeral luncheon.
My birthday was on April 28th, but we celebrated with my family two days later. I my favorite dessert, a Butterfinger cake.
We had a swim day for the little girls at Cara's house in the middle of May. They were very excited that it was finally warm enough to swim.
My parents were very nice and took us to the Aquarium on May 27th. It was really neat, and I had never been there before.
We got to see a 4D movie. I had to leave early because Claire and Lily did not like the air and water blowing on them.
On May 28th we went up to Preston, ID for the Porter reunion. There were very distant relatives at this reunion. It was for my great grandpa and his siblings, but all of them have died except for one sister. We visited the cemetery after the reunion.
We stopped by Napoleon Dynamite's house while we were in Preston.
One day all of us were downstairs except for Lily. Suddenly we heard a crash. Rusty went upstairs to see what it was, and this is what he found. Claire and Lily love hard noodles before they are cooked.
The girls love the rocking chair at Great Grandpa Wilson's house.
We hiked Batter Creek Falls on June 7th. It was actually an activity for the cub scouts, but they needed extra leaders to come so we made a family hike out of it.
Claire on the bride during the hike.
Lily loves her jewelry.
From June 9-11 the Mendenhalls had a little family reunion down in Cedar City at Rusty's aunt's house. We camped out in her front yard. Claire and Lily loved her dogs and bunny and fun big yard. It was a fun trip, and I'm glad we went
Claire really liked played ring toss.
We found a hike to go on while we were down there. It was called Hidden Haven. The trail head was on Highway 143, and it was kind of hard to find. It really was  hidden. At the end there was a really lovely waterfall.

Claire with Rusty's parents on the trail.
After the hike we stopped at Cedar Breaks. Rusty had never been there before. It sure was beautiful.
Family photo at Cedar Breaks.
Rusty's cousin Justin took the kids out for a little ride, and they thought it was great.
On our last morning there we all went out to look at a wild pack of horses. We didn't dare to get too close to them.
Double horse ride!
Lily being goofy wearing her skirt on her head.
On June 17th my dad and I hiked to Lake Blanche. It was very steep, but we made it. Sundial Peak has an amazing view from that lake.
